Schmitz Park Trip B, Day 2, June 2015

Trip Day: Day 2

Location: James Island, WA

Name(s): Sylvie and Mary

School/Grade: Schmitz Park, 5th grade

Please share some interesting stories about today…

In the morning before breakfast we went to the shore and found about 30 crabs! Then Sylvie drove the boat and there were super squirrely currents and we thought we got a little too close to the rocks, but the Captain said that we had plenty of water under us. At noon we were looking at our zooplankton samples and found jellyfish!

Any favorite wildlife sightings, quotes, games to share?

We learned a game called Big Booty and we danced around singing the song. Also we saw about 5 eagles while we were sailing the boat.

Describe the anchorage or moorage where Carlyn is right now:

We are at James Island and there are clear skies, a sandy beach and very green.

Today’s weather…

It was sunny, clear skies and a slight breeze.

Describe highlights from today’s science and sailing watches:

Learning about the different sails on the boat. Got samples of zooplankton and turbidity and looked at the zooplankton on microscopes.

Any questions, concerns, or expectations for tomorrow?
