Peak to Peak, Day 2, April 2015

Trip Day: Day 2
Location: Sucia Island
Name(s): Sohan, Ayush
School/Grade: Peak to Peak/7th Grade
Do you have any interesting stories about today….
It was many of our first times sailing. Lots of people were motion sick! We were on the boat for around 5 hours either sailing or learning about the science. When we arrived at Sucia Island, we went to the island to hike. We saw everything from pit toilets to Hermit crabs. We did chores which made us feel like true sailors.
Any favorite wildlife sightings, quotes, games to share?
We saw Porpoises, Bald Eagles, and Skittles the Sea Otter. Sohan had a laughing fit which made him cry. Brandon created a game called Alien Numbers and it was really tricky and hard to figure out.
Describe the anchorage or moorage where Carlyn is right now:
We are at an island which is shaped like a horseshoe. We are moored at a linear moorage which is like a dock that is just fixed and floating lines. We are a quarter mile from land.
Today’s weather:
Warm and sunny. Windy but nice.
Describe highlights from today’s science and sailing watches:
Sohan and Ayush got to steer the boat during our sailing watch. Everybody set and struck the sails. We used lots of new gear.
Do you have any questions, concerns, or expectations for tomorrow?
We are excited to set the sails tomorrow. (wind watch!)
