Do you have any interesting stories about today….
Today, we found a detached buoy and rope with a lot of marine invertebrates attached to it and bull kelp growing on it! We observed it closely and discovered many different animals like nudibranchs. Also we saw many seals and porpoises and a pup seal swam with us for a little ways.
Any favorite wildlife sightings, quotes, games to share?
We saw porpoises, many cool jellyfish, and seals. Tonight, we are going to play a fun game of Mafia. On land, we saw a lot of deer and raccoons.
Describe the anchorage or moorage where Carlyn is right now:
Here, at Tillicum Village on Blake Island, the mooring docks are surrounded by beautifully clear and aqua blue waters.
Today’s weather:
Was a really nice temperature, just the right amount of wind and a very warm and sunny day with barely any cloud cover.
Describe highlights from today’s science and sailing watches:
We identified about 9 different zooplanktons using the microscopes and we had a fun time testing the turbidity using a colorimeter.
Do you have any questions, concerns, or expectations for tomorrow?
We are all looking forward to sailing the boat some more and raising and taking down the sails again.
