Dimmitt Middle School – Day 3

Trip Day: Day 3

Location: Blake Island, Puget Sound

Name(s): Dimmitt Middle School

School/Grade: 7th

It was one of those pleasant mornings wrapped in a 1000 shades of gray. The wind was calm and the air was mild and humid yet without any drizzles. You could sense the weather of the day could either close in and be wet or open up to brighter skies.

By the time the tents were packed away and breakfast was cleaned up, it seemed the brightening sky was reflecting the anticipation of the Challenge Day.

The group science wrap-up on shore to compile the last couple days of data collection was all that stood between the students and their collective challenge to set a course for the day.

For the challenge of the day, they needed to determine who would serve as captain, which team would deploy the science equipment, which team would make sure everyone was fed, and which team would come up with a creative product reflecting their 3-day adventure on the good ship Carlyn.
