Dimmitt Middle School – Day 1

Trip Day: Day One

Location: Puget Sound

Name(s): Dimmitt Middle School

School/Grade: 7th graders

The students were full of anticipation and excitement to start the trip. They slipped the lines from the dock early on a sunny day on their way across the main basin of Puget Sound.
A very light breeze made for a very pleasant sailing day down Colvos Passage on their way towards their evening anchorage.

Along the way they saw Harbor porpoise and seals. They also spent time deploying science equipment gathering data for their science question.
They eventually found a quiet anchorage on the east side of Vashon Island at Camp Sealth. The evening was full of song wars, beach exploration and beach games.

You can read the ‘Afternoon Report‘ to get a perspective from the students.
