Trip Day: Day 2

Location: Blake Island

Name(s): Charlotte, Elli and Nate

School/Grade: Catherine Blaine, 8th

Do you have any interesting stories about today….

Today we saw a sea lion jump out from in front of the boat.

We got to take a really pretty hike through the woods. We looked as plankton though microscopes. We had the chance to raise and lower the sail for the boat, it was hard at first but fun with friends.

Any favorite wildlife sightings, quotes, games to share?

We love BIG BOOTY!!!! That game is GREAT!!!! We also saw some sea lions.

Describe the anchorage or moorage where Carlyn is right now:

Blake Island is infested with deer and geese poop. There are also an abundant amount of deer families on the island. The land that we hiked on was very damp and slippery.

Today’s weather:

Today was mostly cloudy with light rains every once in a while, was miserably cold. It made us want to cry and go home.

Describe highlights from today’s science and sailing watches:

Some highlights from science today were looking at the plankton under the microscope, deploying our gear, and learning why the water is blue. Some highlights from sailing were raising the sails (WOOHOO), lowering the main because we were going too fast, and learning to navigate.

Do you have any questions, concerns, or expectations for tomorrow?

A question we have as a group is which crew member doesn’t have their tonsils, wondering what’s for breakfast, and hoping tomorrow will be as great as today was!
