NOW is the time to support putting students at the helm, opening their minds and their hearts to the wonders of science and the sea — from the bottom of the food chain through a microscope, to the top of the food chain, breaching tens of feet off the stern. Salish Sea Expeditions offers students a compelling combination of adventure, self-learning, and discovery of new skills, confidence, friends and new possibilities.

THANK YOU for your support for getting students excited about science and strengthening their connection to the sea as a living part of their home. We look forward to seeing you at this fun event!

Since 1997, Salish Sea Expeditions has been leading expeditions that inspire students to take ownership of their own learning through science and maritime exploration. Each year, Salish Sea Expeditions works with up to 25 schools to connect over 1,400 students in grades 5-12 to the marine environment. While we serve a broad spectrum of youth, Salish Sea Expeditions is dedicated to serving low-income students and schools that are less likely to have qualified STEM teachers, direct access to Puget Sound, or field-based science learning experiences.Follow along with the educational journey on our blog, View From the Helm, sign up to receive our eNews, and join our community on Facebook and Instagram.

  • Happy New Year!!! We are excited to see what 2019 holds. Just like when navigating first you need to know where you are. Then you can decide where you need to go. While learning about navigation, students from Alderwood Middle School cultivated critical thinking and problem solving skills. Developing these skills onboard Carlyn can help them navigate challenges for themselves, the Salish Sea & beyond! #salishsea # navigation #handsondeck #handsonlearning #maritimelearning
