Seismic Supper for Eight!

Join Salish Board Member, Martha Bean, at her home in Seattle for a delectable dinner where you’ll be regaled with the tales of Dr. John Vidale, Director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network and his wife, seismologist Dr. Heidi Houston. It was John and his team who captured every legendary shake, rattle and roll at Century Link Stadium each time the Seahawks played at home. Not only will John share what he’s learned about tracing the team’s tremblors, you’ll also be joined by Dr. Ralph Haugerud, an expert in how the Salish Sea region formed. Your beverages and earth-shaking five-course dinner will reflect our Earth Sciences theme and will invite you to see, taste, and even experience what happens when plates (the tectonic variety, that is) collide. This fascinating, educational, and thoroughly entertaining dinner for eight can be arranged for a date that is mutually agreeable.

This overnight trip for 10 on Salish’s 61-foot drop-dead gorgeous yawl will signal the start of summer for you and your posse as you sail together on our jeweled sound. As you depart from Anacortes and make your way through the San Juans, Salish’s seasoned crew will guide you. Newbies will learn to sail and old salts will polish their skills. On that first day, a hearty lunch will greet your gang in the galley and that’s where you’ll learn the ins and outs of creating your vittles for the journey. Then in the spirit of Salish teamwork, you and your guests can pitch in to prepare the rest of your meals. Along with your posse, don’t forget to bring your sleeping bags and groceries!
